The Beginning

Well, this is the start of my log. I only decided to make a log after i was a week or so into it. I aquired an Ford 89 EA Falcon with a 3.9ltr Straight Six Auto, had been looking after it for a mate and ended up buying it. $250, still in good order. It was originally going to be a paddock basher. I got the engine running, a couple of wires from the negative terminal weren't connected, then the fuel pump gave up. I had been wanting to build an open wheeler (think Formula 1) for a while and decided to use the Six out of the falcon. I am going to use as many parts from the falcon as is possible. The auto tranny had to go A, not a transaxle, B, its auto. So i got into the market for a transaxle, a porsche one would of been nice but i decided to settle on a subaru one, still in the market. Then after getting the engine and gearbox out, the wiring harness. Theres easy a couple of kays of wire in this one. Then i took the front suspension out springs, hubs and lower arms. Im going to make new upper arms because of the long arms that most open wheelers have. Nothing to it, just undoing bolts. No need for the rear end, its a live axle. Then I started on the chassis. The first bit was more of an impulse thing and was pretty basic, then it went through a couple of design revisions.

Robots can't weld better than that.
