Mounted the tires on the rims yesterday, redneck style. I used the oxy to pump some acetylene in to the tires and then lit the gas. The first time was with a cigarette lighter, only just got my fingers out of the way, the second time i did it with the flame from the oxy, that was 'safer'. It makes this sweet sounding fwump and then its set, its wicked. Then i fitted the wheels to the hubs and put them in place in relation to the engine. Then today i did a bit more frigging around with bits and pieces. Did a bit more work on the chassis, i love MIG welders, so much easier than good ol stick welders. I added a few things to the chassis model on the computer as well, mainly bracing and an idea of where the engine mounts would be, I dont want to put to much strain on the engine because i think that the block would crack if i used it as a stressed or even semi stressed member of the chassis. Last night i was bidding on a Subaru AWD 'box, as i can use the box as a transaxle, but i got outbid by $11, fuming. So if anyone knows of someone who is wishing to part with a subie box for a reasonable amount, and it doesnt have to be bulletproof... This is the chassis at present, (click for a bigger picture)
